Optional Practical Training (OPT)

• OPT lets F-1 students work in their field of study after completing their degree (post-completion OPT) or in some cases before (pre-completion OPT).
• USCIS must approve your OPT application. You receive an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) card as proof of work authorization.
